What is Mabel's real name?
Mabel's real name is Mabel! Her full name is Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey.
How old is she?
Mabel was born on 19th February 1996, making her currently 30-years-old.
Where is Mabel from?
Mabel is a citizen of three countries - the UK, Sweden and Spain. The singer was born in Spain, and her mum Neneh Cherry is Swedish, whilst her dad, Cameron McVey, is British.
Are her parents famous?
Yes, Mabel's parents ARE famous! Her mum is 80s pop star Neneh Cherry, who had a huge hit with 'Buffalo Stance', and her dad is Massive Attack record producer Cameron McVey. Through her mum, she has hugely impressive creative heritage - she's the step-granddaughter of jazz musician Don Cherry, granddaughter of musician Ahmadu Jah, granddaughter of artist Moki Cherry and her uncle and aunt are Eagle-Eye Cherry and Titiyo!
It doesn't stop there, as her siblings are all musical too - she has a sister, Tyson, a half-sister, Naima, and a half-brother, Marlon, who are all in the industry.
At the 2020 BRIT Awards, Mabel took to the red carpet with her mum, 30 years to the day that her mum won a BRIT Award for her debut album 'Raw Like Sushi'.
On 2nd March 2022, Mabel even presented her mum with the Icon Award at the BandLab NME Awards. A proud Mabel said: "I’m so blessed to have you as a mum, and you’ll always probably be that tiny bit cooler than me! You’re a role model to so many, and my biggest inspiration."
What is Mabel doing now?
Mabel's been working on her upcoming third studio album — and has released a number of songs from it already! 'All Over You' (featuring King Promise), 'Chat', 'Look at My Body, Pt. II' featuring Shygirl, 'Female Intuition' and 'Stupid Dumb' featuring Ty Dolla $ign were released in 2024 and early 2025.
However, it's likely that her music career has been put on the backburner for now, as she and her other half welcomed their first baby together in 2026!
Mabel's hiatus
Back in 2024, Mabel released her first new music since July 2022, putting out 'Zero' with Black Sherif on 9th February 2024 and then 'Vitamins'. This came a few weeks before her official return to music with a lengthy statement, where she explained she'd been focusing on her health and family.
When will Mabel's third album be released?
There's no official word yet on a release date. No name has been announced yet either — but Mabel said in an interview with NME that the album will be a return to her "R&B roots".
A number of tracks, including her recent collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign 'Stupid Dumb', have already been released from the album.
Is she married?
Yes! Mabel married her fiancé Preye Crooks in July 2025, hiring the Victoria and Albert Museum in Chelsea for the ceremony. Preye, who is the son of former professional footballer Garth Crooks, proposed to the singer in 2024, with the pair sharing their news online.
British Vogue shared some stunning photos of Mabel from her wedding day, as she wore a vintage Dolce custom Prada.
Speaking about her big day, she told the publication: "It was so good. I’ve had people saying, ‘Not only was it the best wedding, it was the best party.’" But then, what else would you expect from one of the UK music industry’s most compelling couples?
Does Mabel have children?
She certainly does! After having a few months out of the spotlight, Mabel took to Instagram in September 2026 to confirm that she and Preye had welcomed a baby together. Although she did not reveal the gender of the baby or when she'd given birth, she shared a video montage of tender clips from throughout her pregnancy, culminating in the baby meeting her family.
Of course, the shock announcement surprised fans and famous faces alike, who took to the comments section to wish Mabel happiness. Fellow singer Zara Larsson wrote: 'Mabel 😭😭😭😭😭😭 grattis!!!!!,' while songwriter MNEK added: '😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ congratulations diva.'
She also received well wishes from Craig David, Sugababes' Keisha Buchanan and Ella Eyre to name a few, but one comment came from someone who was NOT surprised by the news - her mum, Neneh Cherry, who wrote: 'Love love love 💕🩷🩷🩷🩷💝.'
The soundtrack used in the clip is thought to be an original song by Mabel called 'Innocence', with Genius citing that the song will be out in 2027.

'Finders Keepers' ft. Kojo Funds
Mabel released 'Finders Keepers' in 2017 as the lead single from her debut EP, 'Bedroom'. The super catchy song went all the way to Number 8 in the UK, and has since been certified 2x Platinum by the BPI. It was also later included on Mabel's 2019 debut album, 'High Expectations'.
'Fine Line' with Not3s
Mabel put out the instant hit 'Fine Line' with rapper and singer Not3s in January 2018 as a single from her debut album. Just missing out on the Top 10, it went to Number 11 in the UK and has since been certified Platinum by the BPI.
'Don't Call Me Up'
'Don't Call Me Up' was Mabel's first song released from her debut album, 'High Expectations'. The song was a Top 5 hit for the singer in 2019, going on to be certified 4x Platinum in the UK, and was co-written by Mabel along with songwriters to the stars Kamille (Little Mix and Anne-Marie) and Steve Mac (Ed Sheeran and P!NK).
'Mad Love'
'Mad Love' was Mabel's second song from 'High Expectations', and released in June 2019. The song reached Number 7 in the UK and was also written by Camille Purcell and Steve Mac, being certified 2x Platinum by the BPI with 1.2 million UK sales in March 2025.
'Boyfriend'
Mabel released 'Boyfriend' in February 2020. The music video is set in a world where Mabel can choose her boyfriend through a computer programme. In the music video, there are a number of possible boyfriends for the singer, including a 'Hot Boy', 'Bad Boy', 'Pretty Boy' and 'Party Boy'.
Collaboration with Clean Bandit: 'Tick Tock'
Mabel worked with Clean Bandit on their 2020 single 'Tick Tock', which also features US rapper 24kGoldn. It went to Number 8 in the UK and has been certified Platinum by the BPI, and is all about being "obsessed" with a romantic interest.
Which other artists has she collaborated with?
As stated, one of Mabel's breakout singles was 'Finders Keepers' in 2017 with Kojo Funds - but Mabel's collaborations didn't stop there.

Did she win a BRIT?
She certainly did! Adding to her chart success, Mabel also performed at the 40th BRIT Awards with Mastercard, and joined the winner's list as she picked up the BRIT Award for Female Solo Artist.
Has she toured with other artists?
Mabel has toured with a number of different pop stars since starting her music career in 2015. She's previously supported Harry Styles, LANY and Khalid on their tours, as well as performing at her own headline tours.
Is she on tour?
She's not on tour at the moment - she's just had a baby! Mabel's last UK tour was the 'Right on Time Tour', which saw her perform in Bristol, Manchester and London in November 2025.

2014 - Mabel attends the Stella McCartney show as part of the Paris Fashion Week
Growing up in a family of multi-talented people, it was always inevitable that Mabel would start to show some creative promise herself. As one of her first public appearances, Mabel attended the Stella McCartney show at Paris Fashion Week in 2014 at the age of 18 with her mum, thanks to her Swedish style blog. Her online success landed her in the front row of HUGE runway shows with her mum, including the likes of Stella McCartney.
2015 - Mabel starts her music career
According to Openmic.co.uk, Mabel self-released her first song 'Know Me Better' on Soundcloud in 2015. Despite having famous parents she found her own way in the music industry, cold calling management companies and studying music. Eventually her perseverance paid off when her debut song was picked up and played on the radio. A few weeks after her first radio interview she was approached by Universal. From there she supported Years & Years and appeared in Skepta's music video for 'Shutdown'.
2017 – Mabel released her breakthrough song ‘Finders Keepers’
'Finders Keepers' was Mabel's breakthrough song, getting her into the UK Top 10. The song was released on 26th May 2017 and was written by Mabel along with a songwriting team. It featured British singer-songwriter and rapper Kojo Funds and was included on her album 'High Expectations'.
2018 - Mabel supported Harry Styles on tour
In 2018, Mabel joined Harry Styles on tour in support of his first solo album. Mabel supported Harry at all of his European dates including four gigs in the UK.
2019 - Mabel's debut album AND performing the world's first vertical gig
'High Expectations' was released in August 2019 and featured a number of Mabel's successful songs including: 'Don't Call Me Up', 'Mad Love', 'God Is a Dancer' with Tiësto, 'Boyfriend', 'West Ten' with AJ Tracey, and 'Tick Tock' with Clean Bandit and 24kGoldn.
Mabel performed the world's first vertical gig in 2019, designed especially to be filmed using a mobile phone. Speaking about the gig at the time, Mabel told us it was "incredible" and "such a cool thing to do". She went on to explain how the show looked perfect on Instagram, but she did admit that her band weren't happy that the set shook with all their dancing! Sounds a bit scary!
2020 – Mabel won her first BRIT Award
Mabel won her first BRIT Award for British Female Solo Artist in 2020, having been previously nominated for British Breakthrough Act in 2019. She paid tribute to her mum, Neneh Cherry, who picked up awards at the BRITs exactly 30 years previously, calling it a "very special night" and citing both parents as "beautiful examples" that "anything is possible". She also performed at the ceremony, singing 'Don't Call Me Up'.
2021 - Mabel appears on Love Island
Mabel appeared on the popular dating show Love Island. The singer did a special performance of 'Don't Call Me Up' and 'Mad Love' along with some other hits, poolside, especially for the Islanders. Watch some highlights from her performance here.
Later that year, 'Let Them Know' was released in June 2021. The song was written by Mabel along with MNEK and a couple of other songwriters. The song was a Top 20 hit for Mabel.
2022 - 'Good Luck', Platinum Party at the Palace performance and second album
Mabel released 'Good Luck', a collab with Jax Jones and Galantis. The song's inspiration was Mabel's emotional journey over the past couple of years. At the beginning of the first lockdown, Mabel moved back with her dogs to her parents, and threw herself into dance classes, but like many of us, she missed the social interaction with her friends.
Mabel performed to a crowd of 22,000 people at the Platinum Party at the Palace as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations on 4th June. She put on an incredible show as she sang her hit song 'Don't Call Me Up'. Speaking about the performance, she said: 'It was such an honour to perform and I'm so grateful I got to be part of the Queens Jubilee with so many other amazing artists.' (sic)
On 15th July, Mabel released her second studio album 'About Last Night...'! The album, which follows her 2019 debut 'High Expectations', includes huge singles 'Overthinking' featuring 24kGoldn, 'Let Them Know' and 'Good Luck'. Featuring collabs with artists such as Joel Corry, it's safe to say the album was a certified hit after it peaked at Number 2 in the UK!
2024: Mabel releases 'Zero' with Black Sherif
In February 2024, Mabel released her first new music since July 2022, in the form of the track 'Zero' with Black Sherif. A month later, Mabel put out a lengthy statement to explain her hiatus, writing that she'd spent the previous 18 months focusing on her family, her health and her happiness: 'I started my career almost ten years ago and moments of peace have been far and few between. I don't really know if anyone knows who they are in their 20s but the only way for me to start figuring that out was to turn down the noise. The peace has brought me clarity but that wouldn't have happened without the help of my amazing family, my beautiful man, his family, our wonderful friends and of course YOU.'
She also put out single 'Look at My Body Pt. II' featuring Shygirl, 'Female Intuition' and 'Stupid Dumb' featuring Ty Dolla Sign. Later that year, she confirmed that she'd been working in the studio with her brother, Marlon Roudette, and had also been writing with renowned Swedish songwriter Max Martin.
2025: Mabel releases more music and tours the UK
Mabel continued to release new music throughout 2025, including her self-titled mixtape. The tracklist was: 'January 19', 'Right On Time', 'Lay Me Down', 'Run Me Down', 'Turn Me Up', 'Venus', 'Love Me Gentle', 'Benz' (featuring Clavish) and 'Is It Love?', and she said of the record: "I wrote this exactly one month before my 29th birthday and I was reflecting on another year around the sun. The process of writing this was a brain dump about the pressure that I've felt throughout my career. The need for approval is something that has eaten me up at times but now I'm in a place where I'm so comfortable just doing things for me!"
Later that year, she went on a European tour called the 'Right On Time Tour', where she performed in the UK in Bristol, Manchester and London before heading to Europe for gigs in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and France.
